OUR MISSION
Eighty-five percent of a design is grounded in history, fifteen percent is a matter of intuition. In order to take an intelligent step forward you have to know everything that has come before. Our intention is to take the process from what exists today and guide it to where is should be tomorrow. As we continue to grow, our focus remains on the design and fabrication of exceptional quality furniture, one piece at a time.
OUR STORY
Ian Ingersoll, established in 1975 out of a one-room workshop, has evolved into a contemporary guild of craftsmen. Every piece of furniture is still made by hand of a single person as in the beginning. Each craftsperson is constantly aware that looking over our shoulder, are not only the eventual owner of each piece of furniture, but also the next generation of woodworkers; who may emulate our work as we have appreciated the work of past masters from whom we have drawn our inspiration and enthusiasm. It is our intention that our work lives as long as theirs and that it brings the same joy to others that we experience in the making.
Located in the hills of Litchfield County, we’re here by choice of lifestyle; nevertheless ship our furniture as far as Europe to the east and Japan to the west as well as all over the United States to our customers. When considering the need for a piece of furniture, be aware, we are only limited by our collective imaginations. As you can see we are elated to work within any style and time period or can offer our own original designs, custom to your specifications.
